Juventus Record €1 Billion Loss in Eight Years, But Exor Stands Firm with New Capital Injection

Start

Juventus have recorded staggering losses of almost one billion euros over the past eight years, yet majority shareholder Exor remains steadfast in its commitment to the club, preparing a fresh capital increase to stabilise the finances and support future growth.

Following the dismissal of Igor Tudor, discussion has reignited over the financial toll of recent seasons and the consistent support Exor has provided to keep the club afloat. Calciomercato report how, since the departure of Andrea Agnelli, John Elkann’s management has continued to post losses, which now total €999 million between the 2017/18 and 2024/25 campaigns.

A Billion in Losses

The financial results paint a stark picture. Since the 2021/22 season, when Juventus recorded a €227 million deficit, the figures worsened the following year with another €239 million loss. The most recent campaigns under Elkann’s direct oversight have seen improvements, with losses reduced to €199 million and then €58 million. Though still negative, the latest result marks the club’s best financial performance in recent years.

Capital Increases

Exor’s continued investment has acted as a crucial safety net. Over the years, the holding company injected significant sums to stabilise the Bianconeri’s accounts: €300 million in 2019, another €400 million in 2021, followed by an additional €200 million later that same year. The Juventus board has now approved plans for another recapitalisation of up to €110 million, scheduled for 2026. Exor has already advanced €30 million, bringing its total financial commitment since 2019 to €603 million.

Elkann’s Message: “Juventus Is Not for Sale”

Despite the heavy financial strain, sources close to Elkann have reiterated a firm stance: Juventus will not be sold. “We continue to strengthen Juventus both on and off the pitch, as we have done for the past 102 years. We are not selling,” is the message reportedly coming from the Exor camp.

While off‑field finances remain a sensitive topic, attention within the club also turns to the managerial front, with discussions ongoing about the successor to Tudor. Luciano Spalletti is currently seen as the leading candidate to take charge of the Bianconeri project.
