Juventus continue to search for the right candidate to fill the vacant Sporting Director role — the final piece needed to complete a new-look management structure alongside Damien Comolli, François Modesto, and Giorgio Chiellini.
Calciomercato report that the Bianconeri have spent the past few weeks evaluating several profiles, aiming to appoint someone who fits seamlessly into the club’s revamped hierarchy. Comolli, recently installed as CEO, Modesto as Technical Director, and Chiellini as Director of Football Strategy form the backbone of Juve’s modernised setup — yet one key position remains open.
Ottolini Still the Favourite
The selection process has slowed in recent weeks, largely because Juventus have been preoccupied with managerial matters following Igor Tudor’s dismissal and Luciano Spalletti’s appointment as head coach at the end of October.
Despite the delay, Marco Ottolini remains the front-runner. Recently parted from Genoa, the Italian executive has long been at the top of Comolli’s shortlist. Talks had reportedly reached an advanced stage, but no agreement has yet been finalised, leaving the outcome uncertain.
Alternative Options
Juventus have also explored other names. Portuguese executive Rui Braz, formerly of Benfica, was among the leading alternatives before he chose to join Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia, where ex-Juve defender Merih Demiral currently plays.
Another figure previously under consideration was Bernardo Palmeiro, Sporting CP’s current Sporting Director. Although regarded highly by the Juventus board, there have been no tangible developments in this direction either.
Foreign Route Still Possible
With no deal yet concluded, Juventus are keeping other avenues open. Club sources suggest that work continues quietly on a potential foreign candidate, whose identity has yet to surface. This cautious approach reflects a desire to make a decision without external pressure or premature publicity.
Timing Remains Unclear
Juventus have made clear their intent to take all the time necessary before announcing their new Sporting Director. No official deadline has been set, as the club continue their detailed evaluation process to identify the figure who best aligns with the collective vision of the new management.
