Juventus have submitted their official UEFA squad list for the 2026-27 Europa League — and the document tells the story of a summer completed, a squad reshaped, and an injury crisis that has already imposed its first formal consequences.

Yıldız in List B — a Protective Decision with Future Flexibility
The most significant and thoughtful decision in the list’s construction concerns Kenan Yıldız. Despite his fractured foot ruling him out for approximately three months, Juventus have included the Turkish international in List B — the category reserved for homegrown players who have been at the club for at least two years. The decision preserves his eligibility for European competition and, crucially, keeps his slot open for his return — expected around the November international break — without consuming a List A place.
Joining Yıldız in List B are five academy players: Radu (40), Owusu (41), Huli (42), Durmisi (47), and Elimoghale (48).
Five Absent — Thuram, Zhegrova, Milik, Rugani, and Ekhator
The five players excluded from the list reflect different aspects of the club’s current situation. Thuram is absent due to his knee surgery, which will keep him out until 2027 at the earliest. Ekhator is excluded because of his grade two muscle tear. Milik’s absence confirms that his contract situation and persistent physical fragility have left him entirely outside the European planning. Rugani and Zhegrova’s exclusions, meanwhile, are the clearest possible institutional signal: neither player features in Spalletti’s plans, and both are expected to depart through the winter window at the very latest. Zhegrova’s Saudi Arabian option — with that market open until 12 October — remains the most credible exit route for the Kosovar winger.

The opening home fixture against NEC Nijmegen on 17 September will be Juventus’s first European match of the season — and, given the squad’s injury situation, one of the most eagerly awaited early tests of how Spalletti navigates the opening weeks without Yıldız, Thuram, and Ekhator.
