Locatelli Suffers Ankle Injury with Italy: Doubtful for Norway Clash

Start

Manuel Locatelli has suffered an ankle injury while training with the Italian national team, casting doubt on his availability for the crucial World Cup qualifier against Norway. Football Italia report that the Juventus midfielder, recently recalled to the national squad by coach Luciano Spalletti, picked up the injury during the latest training session and was seen with significant strapping on his right ankle.

This morning, Locatelli underwent an MRI scan to assess the extent of the damage. Initial concerns suggested a calf problem, but it has since been confirmed that the issue is with his ankle. The results of the medical tests will determine how long he might be sidelined and whether he can recover in time for Italy’s next matches.

Italy is preparing to face Norway on Friday in a decisive match for World Cup qualification, followed by another important fixture against Moldova on Monday. Locatelli’s participation in both matches is now in serious doubt.

The news is also significant for Juventus, who are gearing up for the Club World Cup later this month. The club will closely monitor Locatelli’s condition, as his absence could impact their preparations for the tournament. Depending on the severity of the injury, Locatelli may return to Turin for further evaluation and recovery.
