Juventus are keeping an eye on the transfer market as they search for reinforcements in attack. With negotiations for Randal Kolo Muani proving increasingly complicated due to Paris Saint-Germain’s high demands—reportedly rising to 60–70 million euros—the Bianconeri have started to explore alternatives. La Gazzetta dello Sport report (as quoted by ilbianconero) that one of the names now under consideration is Loïs Openda, the Belgian forward currently at RB Leipzig.
A Rising Talent
Born in 2000 to Belgian and Moroccan heritage, Openda has quickly gained attention across Europe. He joined Leipzig in the summer of 2023 from Lens for about 40 million euros and has since established himself as a versatile attacking option. His contract runs until 2028, with a reported annual salary of 5.5 million euros and a release clause worth 80 million.
Previously, Inter Milan had considered him, estimating a deal in the range of 30–35 million plus bonuses, while his current market value is thought to be around 50 million. However, Leipzig may be reluctant to part ways with him, especially after already losing Benjamin Sesko earlier this summer.
Playing Style and Strengths
Openda is not just a classic striker. Last season in the Bundesliga he scored 13 goals and provided 11 assists in 45 appearances. He thrives as a second striker, capable of roaming across the front line, using his pace, dribbling, and one-on-one skills to open up defenses.
Although not a traditional winger or playmaker, Openda can start wide before cutting inside, making him adaptable to different tactical setups. His ability to both finish and create makes him more than a pure goal poacher.
Fit at Juventus
Under Igor Tudor’s system, which currently employs a 3-4-2-1 formation, Openda could complement Jonathan David as a strike partner or operate behind him in a supporting role. He could also line up alongside Dusan Vlahovic, who appears more likely to stay in Turin, offering flexibility in Juventus’ attacking dynamics.
Waiting on Leipzig’s Decision
Leipzig’s position remains key. Until recently, Openda was not seen as indispensable, and the player himself was open to a new challenge. However, with Sesko’s departure, his importance to the squad has grown, potentially complicating any transfer talks.
For now, Juventus continue to monitor Openda while keeping their primary focus on Kolo Muani. Should negotiations with PSG collapse, the Belgian striker could quickly move to the top of their shortlist.
