Marco Ottolini appears closer than ever to a return to Juventus. The former Genoa sporting director, who officially ended his contract with the Ligurian club over the weekend, is expected to take up the same role in Turin, marking a significant homecoming. According to reports from Tuttosport (via IlBianconero), negotiations between the parties have advanced rapidly, and positive developments are expected soon.
Talks Intensify
In recent weeks, discussions between Ottolini and Juventus had gathered strong momentum before a brief pause, coinciding with a tense period for the team on the pitch. However, the definitive split between Ottolini and Genoa has reopened the path for his move back to the Bianconeri.
After a careful and extensive search led by Damien Comolli, Juventus have identified Ottolini as the ideal candidate to join their revamped management structure, focusing on the club’s sporting department.
Ottolini’s Role in Turin
Upon his return, Ottolini will be entrusted with full responsibility over the scouting division. He will serve as a key link between Comolli and Giorgio Chiellini while maintaining regular contact with François Modesto, the current figure most closely involved with the first team. His appointment is seen as the final piece completing the new executive framework.
Completing the Management Puzzle
Ottolini’s arrival will finalise the leadership setup Juventus have been building since Comolli’s appointment. The French executive, who will officially become CEO on 7 November, had earlier underlined the importance of adding two senior figures — a technical director and a sporting director — to work alongside himself and Chiellini.
With Modesto already confirmed as technical director, the addition of Ottolini now closes the circle, giving the club a full, clearly defined management structure ready to support Luciano Spalletti’s technical project.
A Return to Familiar Ground
For Ottolini, this marks a return to familiar surroundings. Between 2018 and 2022, he was part of Juventus’ scouting network, having previously served in a similar capacity at Anderlecht. His work at the Bianconeri initially focused on identifying emerging talent, before he was assigned to oversee players out on loan during the 2021–22 season.
He left Turin in the summer of 2022 to join Genoa, where he contributed to the club’s technical rebuild. Now, just three years later, Ottolini looks set to rejoin Juventus — this time as a central figure in their sporting hierarchy.
