McKennie’s Juventus Future Uncertain as Contract Renewal Talks Stall Over Agent Fees

Weston McKennie’s future at Juventus is under scrutiny as negotiations for a contract extension have stalled, primarily due to disagreements over agent commissions. Tuttosport report that the American midfielder, whose contract expires in less than a year, had been in advanced talks with the club for a renewal until 2028, with a proposed salary of around €3 million per season. While the financial terms were acceptable to McKennie and his representatives, the excessive commission demands from his agents have put the deal on hold.

The situation has been further complicated by changes in Juventus’ management, with the departure of sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli requiring the club to reset negotiations under new leadership. This has left McKennie’s renewal in limbo, despite his importance to the squad and his versatility, which saw him used in multiple roles by both Thiago Motta and Igor Tudor last season.

Juventus does not consider McKennie untouchable and is open to offers in the €15–20 million range. Such a sale would represent a significant financial gain for the club, given McKennie’s low initial cost. Several clubs across Germany, England, France, and Türkiye have already expressed interest, although no official bids have been made yet.

For now, McKennie’s priority remains to extend his stay in Turin, but as time passes and with contract talks stalled, the possibility of a transfer grows.
