Former Juventus star Fabrizio Ravanelli has shared his thoughts on the current state of the Bianconeri under Luciano Spalletti, as well as the club’s choices in the transfer market. Speaking to Tuttosport about Juventus’ progress, title chances, and attacking options, Ravanelli offered a candid assessment of the team’s evolution.
Spalletti’s Impact on Juventus
Ravanelli praised the work of Luciano Spalletti, crediting him for revitalising both the squad and the club atmosphere.
“It’s down to Luciano,” he explained. “The Spalletti effect has been really positive for the team and the environment. Despite a few setbacks, like the defeats against Cagliari and Atalanta, Juventus are playing very well now. The credit goes to Spalletti, who has put players in their best positions and restored a sense of belonging. He’s imposed his tactical ideas quickly, with an aggressive approach when out of possession. The team now plays excellent football, and it’s thanks to the coach.”
Title Race Still a Challenge
When asked about Juventus’ chances in the Scudetto race, Ravanelli remained realistic.
“It will be tough, if we’re being honest. Inter are quite far ahead, but there’s always hope in football. If Juve hadn’t dropped five points against Cagliari and Lecce, both games they dominated, things would look very different. With those wins, they’d be fighting for first place.”
On Jonathan David’s Revival
Ravanelli also spoke about Jonathan David’s improvement under Spalletti.
“At Lille he was a top player. After a slow start, he now seems calmer and more confident. You can tell Spalletti’s faith is helping him. David can be the key man in the second half of the season and help Juventus achieve their goals.”
Vlahovic and David Together?
“Absolutely not,” Ravanelli responded when asked if the two strikers could play alongside each other. “They’re both natural centre-forwards—they’d just get in each other’s way.”
The Search for a Striker
Ravanelli agreed that Juventus still lack a certain profile in attack.
“I share Spalletti’s view. Juventus could use a tall, physical striker. That type of player is missing in this squad,” he noted.
Who Would Fit Juventus Best?
“If I could choose anyone, I’d go all in for Victor Osimhen,” said Ravanelli. “He’d be perfect for Spalletti’s football. Luciano knows him well and could bring out the best in him. Osimhen is strong in the air, quick, works hard, and presses defenders—a complete forward like that is rare today.”
“Better None Than En-Nesyri”
When asked about potential alternatives, Ravanelli made his stance clear.
“Kolo Muani would’ve helped—he’s a very good player and already familiar with some teammates and the environment. But En-Nesyri? He doesn’t fit Juventus at all. He’s not the right profile, and he wouldn’t have made a difference. It was better not to sign anyone than bring in a player like him.”
