Napoli v Juventus

Serie A | Napoli 2-1 Juventus: Player Ratings

Juventus put in a poor showing at the Stadio Maradona, losing 2-1 to Napoli courtesy of some atrocious defending from the Bianconeri’s backline.

Juventus

Di Gregorio: Fingertip save to deny Højlund at the start of the second half. Couldn’t do much on the Napoli goals. 6.0/10

Kalulu: Probably the best of the Juve defence in the first half, but that’s not saying much – Picked up a deserved yellow card for a rash tackle. 4.5/10

Kelly: Completely switched off for the Napoli opener, gave Højlund a head start for an easy tap-in. Almost did the same again in the second half. Left ball watching on the Napoli winner. Poor. 3.0/10

Koopmeiners: Made a decent tackle at the start of the game but looked under pressure from Neres for much of the opening half. So-so in the second half. 5.0/10

Cambiaso: Utterly anonymous, not sure he was even on the pitch in the first ’45. 3.5/10

Thuram: Plenty of running, but not much else in the opening exchanges. More of the same as the match went on. Average. 4.5/10

Locatelli: Some poor passing, didn’t create anything of note and was beaten by Neres. Poor game, overall. 5.0/10

Cabal: Massively outpaced and outmuscled in the first half, misplaced passes when pressured. Didn’t look ready. 3.0/10

McKennie: Plenty of pace to start with, but failed to impose himself on the game. Set up the Yildiz equaliser with a good assist but also set up the Napoli winner with a disastrous header. 4.0/10

Conceicao: Barely registered in the opening, but for ballooning a decent chance well over the bar. 5.0/10

⭐ Yildiz: A frustrated figure, but Juve’s most creative player and their best threat in the opening half. Scored Juve’s equaliser with a tidy finish. The difference maker for the old Lady. 7.0/10

Spalletti: Has the team setup in a bizarre 3-5-2 that looked stunted and slow, offering next to nothing in attack in the opening half. Made the right subs to bring David at the start of the second half, but taking Yildiz off for Openda might have been a mistake in hindsight. Some strange choices that he’ll have to explain after the match. 4.5/10

Substitutions

David: Made an immediate impact, pressuring the back line as soon as he was on, but he still struggled to linkup with his teammates at times. 5.5/10
