“Spalletti Asks Me to Score” — Thuram on His Role and Juventus’ Growth After Sassuolo Win

Start

Khephren Thuram reflected on Juventus’ dominant 3–0 victory over Sassuolo, praising both the team’s collective performance and his manager’s high expectations. Speaking to DAZN after the final whistle, the French midfielder offered insight into his development under Luciano Spalletti and the unity driving the Bianconeri forward.

Juventus controlled proceedings at the Mapei Stadium thanks to an own goal from Muharemovic and second-half strikes from Fabio Miretti and Jonathan David.

“We’re Happy for Him”

Thuram began by sharing his joy for teammate Jonathan David, who responded brilliantly after his missed penalty against Lecce.

“We’re happy for him. He scored and played really well today after going through a tough moment with that missed penalty. But he bounced back with a great performance — one goal and one assist.”

“Spalletti Asks Me to Score”

The 24-year-old delved deeper into Spalletti’s instructions and the lessons he’s trying to absorb from his coach.

“He tells me I need to turn my head? He says that to me many times — and he’s right,” Thuram admitted. “A midfielder has to know what to do before receiving the ball. He’s right about that; that’s the next step I have to take.

“He asks me to score goals, he asks a lot from me — and I’m happy about that. Today I played in a more offensive position and tried to get into the box more often. Even if I didn’t score, I don’t think too much about it — I just want to improve, and if the goals come, I’ll be happy.”

“We’re Happy with Spalletti”

Thuram also underlined the harmony within the squad and their positive relationship with the coach.

“It’s difficult to explain, but we’re a united group. We work well during the week, we’re happy with him, and we try to be strong in every match. Spalletti demands a lot from us because he knows the quality this team has. We’re happy with him.”
