Tacchinardi: “Spalletti Has Great Charisma, but Juventus Don’t Have a Title-Winning Squad”

Former Juventus midfielder Alessio Tacchinardi has shared his view on Luciano Spalletti’s appointment as the club’s new head coach, offering both praise and realism regarding the team’s current potential. Speaking to Televomero (as quoted by TuttoJuve), Tacchinardi described Spalletti as the right leader for Juventus at this stage of their project.

“Spalletti? He seems to me a coach with great charisma,” said Tacchinardi. “At Napoli, he showed what real football is about. He delivered spectacular football there. Juventus needed a leader, a real commander, and Spalletti brings that presence. The big curiosity now is to see how he will be received at the Maradona, but right now, he is very important for Juventus.”

Tacchinardi lauded the managerial choice, calling Spalletti “the best possible coach at the moment,” but cautioned against unrealistic expectations given the quality of the current squad. “For me, he’s the best coach in absolute terms,” he continued. “But Juventus don’t have the squad to aim for the Scudetto.”

The former midfielder also gave insight into Spalletti’s mindset prior to taking the job. “About that eight-month contract — I had lunch with him a month ago and he seemed very down. That’s why I understand the nature of this deal. He’s not a national team coach; he’s a coach made for daily, on-the-pitch work,” Tacchinardi concluded.
