“There’s a Chemistry Now”: Danilo on Tudor, Spirit at Juventus, and the Next Bernabeu Test

Former Juventus captain Danilo, now back in Brazil with Flamengo, has reflected (as quoted by ilbianconero)  on the current state of his former club ahead of their pivotal Champions League meeting with Real Madrid at the Bernabeu. As a veteran of both clubs, Danilo’s words resonate—blending pride, optimism, and honesty about changes within Juventus.

“I have no regrets,” said Danilo, reflecting on his departure from Turin. “Until the very last day I gave everything I had—commitment, dedication, the desire to stay, the love for the club. At Juve I learned a lot and gave a lot. Things end because that’s life, it all happens for a reason…I think in a few years it’ll be clearer why.”

Spirit in Difficult Times

Addressing Juventus’ current challenges, Danilo stressed the need for unity. “At times like this you need togetherness, everyone must help each other. Now there’s the Champions League—another story—and the Real Madrid match could be an opportunity. In tough moments, Juventus never gives up.”

Mindful of his distance from the daily workings of the squad, Danilo declined to critique specifics: “It would be disrespectful to give an opinion about the group, the coach, or the club. But from the outside, compared to a year ago, it looks like the spirit is different, the attitude has changed. There’s a chemistry between the players and the coach that wasn’t there before. Of course, what matters are the results. The Bernabeu is a huge exam, and Madrid are obviously on a much brighter run—top of La Liga, six points in the Champions League. But if Juve get a result, and they can, it could be the game that transforms their season.”

Faith in Tudor and Emphasis on Patience

Danilo urged patience with the club’s evolution under Tudor. “Patience is needed. There have been changes to personnel, a delayed transfer market—that affected preparations. This won’t be an easy year, but I trust Tudor. Xabi Alonso has a modern and different football idea, and he’s also struggling to communicate that to his players. But it’s always easier when results come. That’s what counts.”

Yildiz: A Future Star

Danilo also spoke warmly about Kenan Yildiz, Juventus’ young talent. “I smile when I talk about Kenan. Even under Allegri, when he would move between the first team and Under-23, he trained so well—you could see he was on another level. Many times after training I’d stop with Max [Allegri]: ‘This one will be really strong,’ we’d say. Gradually, he adapted; he learnt to be more aggressive, to fight, not just to play ‘nicely’ as Max put it. Seeing Yildiz wearing the number 10 shirt, and sometimes as captain, gives me great joy. He’s a truly serious and talented boy, hardworking and humble, and he can absolutely represent what Juventus stands for.”
