Barcelona Step Up Interest in Vlahović as Milan Keep Watch

Start

Barcelona are reportedly making a determined push to sign Juventus striker Dušan Vlahović, with plans to move as early as the January transfer window. According to reports from Marca (as quoted by Calciomercato), the Catalan club see the Serbian forward as an ideal target — both for his quality and for the relatively low cost his situation could present. However, AC Milan are also monitoring developments closely, potentially complicating the scenario.

The Blaugrana have already made initial contact as part of a strategy to exploit the uncertainty surrounding Vlahović’s future. The former Fiorentina star, who joined Juventus in one of Serie A’s most expensive deals at roughly €80 million, has a contract running until June 2026. Yet relations between player and club reportedly cooled last summer, with no renewal being reached. As a result, Barcelona are exploring two options: waiting until the summer to sign him on a free transfer, or negotiating an advantageous deal with Juventus in January — one that may suit both sides, given the striker’s expiring contract.

A Potential Successor to Lewandowski

Vlahović, 25, has long been on Barcelona’s radar as a possible replacement for Robert Lewandowski, whose future at the Camp Nou remains uncertain. Head coach Hansi Flick continues to consider Ferran Torres a key asset, yet the departure of the Polish veteran — should he fail to extend his deal — would leave a significant void in attack. Club president Joan Laporta is said to view Vlahović as one of the few top-level options available at a feasible cost, particularly given Barcelona’s ongoing financial constraints.

Vlahović currently earns around €12 million in Turin, a salary that would normally stretch Barcelona’s budget. However, the Spanish giants are thought to be prepared to make a competitive offer to secure his services, recognising the long-term value of the move.

Lewandowski’s Uncertain Future

The situation surrounding Lewandowski remains a puzzle for Barcelona. The 37-year-old has been outperformed by Ferran Torres in several matches this season, and while his numbers are still solid, they no longer match his prolific past. Speaking in Poland last week, Lewandowski admitted his future is unclear: he is not engaged in talks over potential transfers and has no plans to take a pay cut, emphasising that the decision will ultimately rest with the club.

Vlahović’s Mixed Season in Turin

Vlahović’s form at Juventus has been inconsistent. He has alternated between starts and appearances from the bench, netting just three Serie A goals and another three in the Champions League so far this season. A recent adductor injury has ruled him out until late February or early March, further complicating his campaign.
