Cassano Targets Comolli: “Juventus, He’s the Main One Responsible”

Start

Antonio Cassano has launched a scathing attack on Juventus sporting director Damien Comolli, holding him primarily responsible for the team’s current struggles. Speaking on Viva El Futbol, the former Italy forward offered a typically blunt assessment of Juventus, despite their recent 2–1 victory over Cagliari and upcoming Coppa Italia clash against Udinese.

“I don’t like it. I don’t like it,” Cassano said. “Even the other day, Cagliari had a good first half — Spalletti said the same thing. They were slow in their play and in their movements. To be like he wants — beautiful and winning — I want to see something different. Obviously, we’ll give him time; he arrived at a club with a team built for Tudor. Let me open and close a parenthesis: this squad was built by Comolli, because Comolli is the main one responsible. He built a terrible team.”

Cassano didn’t stop there, also expressing frustration about individual performances. “The other day, what really made me ashamed was David — what was that? He misplaced three or four passes, kicked the ball out for a throw. Comolli keeps going on with this nonsense about algorithms, but we need to sign players with quality, courage, and personality. What I’m seeing from Juve right now is not much.”

The outspoken pundit went on to highlight the few bright spots in the squad. “At this moment, only Yildiz is doing something. Then I want to see Koopmeiners playing in midfield. I struggle to accept a three-man defence, especially for Spalletti’s teams, which have always had two central defenders up at halfway. Of course, in January, I expect three or four new signings.”
