Juventus Look to Move On Di Gregorio as Goalkeeper Reshuffle Gathers Pace

The goalkeeper situation at Juventus is one of the most pressing files inherited by new chief executive Giovanni Carnevali — and it is already moving quickly. With Dibu Martínez firmly established as the club’s primary incoming target between the posts, Juventus have begun actively seeking a new club for Michele Di Gregorio, who met with his agent in Milan on Sunday as the outlines of his exit began to take shape.

How the Goalkeeper Crisis Began

The origins of the problem lie in one of the defining moments of the Comolli era: the collapse of the Alisson Becker deal. Juventus had reached an agreement with the Liverpool goalkeeper, only for the club to block the transfer — an episode that proved to be the final straw in the already strained relationship between Comolli and Luciano Spalletti. From that point, Juventus were forced to start from scratch, with Emiliano Martínez becoming the new number one target.

The Outgoing Picture: Di Gregorio Out, Perin to Stay

With Carlo Pinsoglio already confirmed as third-choice goalkeeper following a recent contract renewal until June 2027, the arrival of a new first-choice keeper would leave one of Di Gregorio or Perin surplus to requirements. Between the two, Juventus appear to favour keeping Mattia Perin, whose contract runs until 2027 and who is regarded by Spalletti as a highly reliable second choice. The club are expected to offer Perin a contract renewal, with the two parties set to meet before the end of June.

That leaves Di Gregorio — signed from Monza in the summer of 2024 in considerable fanfare — facing an unexpected and swift exit after just one season at the Allianz Stadium. Sunday’s meeting between the goalkeeper and his agent in Milan is understood to have been focused on mapping out the options available to him and identifying the most suitable destination.

A Window That Demands Clarity

For Carnevali, resolving the goalkeeper situation cleanly and quickly is a priority. Bringing in Martínez whilst simultaneously managing the departures of Di Gregorio and potentially one other senior player in the same position requires careful co-ordination — but it is precisely the kind of clear-eyed squad management that the new chief executive built his reputation on at Sassuolo. The pieces are moving. The picture is becoming clearer by the day.
