Juventus Transfer Plans: Comolli in Charge as Gatti and Miretti Could Fund Moves for Schlager or Frattesi

Start

Juventus head into the January transfer window with a clear plan — one guided by pragmatism, financial discipline, and the footballing vision of Luciano Spalletti. Despite seven wins in their last eight games, the Bianconeri are under no illusions: the squad can still be improved, and the next few weeks will be crucial in shaping their 2026 ambitions.

Tuttosport report that at Continassa, there is no talk of upheaval, but rather of refinement. Spalletti’s first transfer window as Juventus manager will focus on opportunities rather than lavish spending — a market of patience, creativity, and strategic decisions likely to take shape in the latter half of January. The coach will have his say, but he knows what to expect: a lean, well-considered window built on smart deals.

Gatti and Miretti on the Market

For Juventus, meaningful movement in the market depends on funding from player sales. Unless Damien Comolli and sporting director Marco Ottolini manage to secure an unexpected permanent deal for João Mário — a tough ask given his limited minutes — the likely outgoing names are Federico Gatti and Fabio Miretti. Both have suitors and, importantly, could generate the kind of capital needed for new signings.

Gatti, a reliable defender and fan favourite, is not officially on the market, largely due to the current injury to Daniele Rugani, which has reduced Spalletti’s defensive options. Still, he remains one of the few players who could be sacrificed if a convincing offer arrives. Should that happen, the manager will demand an immediate replacement, even if it means reshaping roles within the squad — Teun Koopmeiners, for example, is viewed as a flexible tactical option.

Miretti’s situation is slightly different. The 22-year-old midfielder impressed against Pisa and continues to attract interest from Serie A and abroad. Juventus value him between €15 and €20 million and already turned down a summer bid from Napoli. This time, however, they might be more open to talks — particularly if it helps Spalletti land the deep-lying playmaker he wants for his system.

Schlager and Frattesi Top the Wishlist

Comolli’s notebook is filling up with potential midfield options. Adrián Bernabé remains a player under observation, but Xaver Schlager is the most realistic target, especially if Juventus can bring forward his move from RB Leipzig before his contract expires in June. Davide Frattesi, long admired in Turin, is another strong candidate. A deal with Sassuolo could even involve prospects such as Tarik Muharemović, allowing Juventus to maintain flexibility in other negotiations.

A Measured Approach to the Market

Beyond these possible moves, the rest of the squad appears set to remain intact. Youngster Vasilije Adžić could leave on loan, while Mattia Perin’s expected exit will be balanced by the arrival of another reliable goalkeeper. The club’s stance is clear: heavy spending is off the table, but clever deals and tactical reinforcements are not.

For now, Gatti and Miretti represent the key financial levers. Juventus are in no rush — performances on the pitch have stabilised, and upcoming fixtures offer a degree of breathing space. The club will act when the right moment and opportunity align. Loans with fees are possible, permanent signings less so. In truth, it’s shaping up to be a thoughtful, calculated winter — one that could quietly define Spalletti’s long-term project in Turin.?
