OFFICIAL: Juventus Complete Signing of Jonathan David

Start

Juventus have officially confirmed the signing of Canadian International striker Jonathan David on a free transfer.  The 25-year-old, who arrived in Milan on Friday morning before heading to Turin for his medical, has signed a five-year contract with the Bianconeri, marking the club’s first major signing of the summer and the first major move under new executive Damien Comolli.

David joins Juventus on a free transfer after his contract with Lille expired at the end of June. His arrival signals the start of a new chapter in his career at 25, as he enters his prime years. The forward’s contract will keep him in Turin until June 2030.

Contract and Financial Details

Although Juventus did not pay a transfer fee for David, the investment remains significant. The striker will earn a salary of €6 million per season, with the potential to earn up to €2 million in bonuses. Additionally, Juventus will pay €12.5 million in agent fees and related costs, spread over three years.

David’s Career So Far

David’s journey to Serie A follows five successful seasons in France with Lille, where he became one of Ligue 1’s most prolific scorers. Last season, he netted 25 goals and provided 12 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions. Over his entire Lille tenure, David scored 109 goals in 231 matches, cementing his place as the club’s second-highest scorer of all time.

Internationally, David is Canada’s all-time leading men’s scorer, with 36 goals in 67 appearances. Known for his intelligence on the field, versatility, and composure in front of goal, he has drawn praise from coaches for his tactical awareness and ability to both create and finish scoring opportunities.

A New Era at Juventus

David’s signing is seen as a statement of intent from Juventus as they look to reinforce their attack and return to the top of Italian and European football. With Dusan Vlahovic’s future at the club uncertain, David’s arrival provides a much-needed boost to the Bianconeri’s offensive options.
