Cuadrado: “Juventus announced my farewell on social media, it hurt me”

Start

Juan Cuadrado is preparing to step back into the spotlight of Serie A, embracing a new challenge with Pisa after a long and eventful career in Italy. The Colombian winger, who wore the Juventus shirt for eight years, looks to rediscover his form following less than memorable spells with Inter and Atalanta.

In an  interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport  (as quoted by ilbianconero), Cuadrado reflected on his time in Turin, the unexpected way his chapter with Juventus was closed, and the emotions surrounding his career choices.

“The Juve is the team of my heart: in Turin I won so much. My children were born there. Some fans whistled at me because of my move to Inter, but I wanted and I could have stayed. Suddenly, the club announced on social media that they would not be renewing my contract. It hurt me: they could have called me and told me directly. But the people understood, and they love me,” he explained.

The winger went on to share how, despite the bitterness of his exit from Juventus, he still receives warmth and affection from the fans whenever he returns to the city.

“My mother lives in Turin and when I go to visit her, the Juve supporters greet me with affection,” Cuadrado said. “I went to Inter to remain at the highest level.”
