Del Piero Praises Juventus’ Spirit at Adidas ‘Unexpected’ Event

Start

Alessandro Del Piero, the iconic former Juventus captain, attended the Adidas “Unexpected” event held on Thursday evening at Bocconi University in Milan. During the occasion, the legendary number 10 spoke about his former club and their recent clash with Galatasaray in the Champions League — a match that, despite ending in elimination, left a strong impression on him.

“I was at the stadium on Wednesday night; it was an incredible evening,” Del Piero said. “Juve truly moved me — they put in an incredibly high-level performance in every respect, even when playing with ten men. So, if we focus on the match against Galatasaray, it was undoubtedly a positive sign for Juventus, despite going out of the Champions League.”

Reflecting on the team’s display, Del Piero emphasised the importance of perspective and adaptability. “There are moments and matches where you have to know when to take certain actions. Often you try to do things in the right way, but sometimes the opponents don’t allow it. However, against Galatasaray, it really was a strong and encouraging signal from the team.”

When asked about Juventus’ upcoming clash with Roma, Del Piero didn’t shy away from calling it pivotal. “Can Roma–Juve be a decisive match? Of course it can — though it will also depend on other results. At Juventus, they have a manager like Spalletti, whose vast experience will certainly help him analyse everything carefully and hopefully put his plans into action.”
