Juventus are plotting a clever January window built on strategy, patience and future planning rather than headline signings. The message from Turin is clear: “If you can’t close deals right away, get ahead of the competition.”
That means Luciano Spalletti may not get a blockbuster arrival before 2 February, but Juventus are staying busy behind the scenes — positioning themselves for key summer deals and low-risk short-term options.
Kessié back in play
Tuttosport report that Ivorian midfielder Franck Kessié is back on the Juventus radar. The Ivorian midfielder is out of contract at Al-Ahly in June, and initial contacts have been made between Juve’s intermediaries and the player’s entourage.
The Bianconeri had already explored the idea last August but backed away when the Saudi club demanded a hefty fee. Now, the door may reopen — though Al-Ahly want to renew Kessié’s deal to avoid losing him for free.
Juventus are watching closely, ready to pounce if the situation changes or if a cut-price exit becomes possible before the deadline.
Mingueza, patience is key
Negotiations for Oscar Mingueza follow the same logic. Juventus know the Celta Vigo full-back could become available for free in the summer, so they’re holding fire rather than forcing a deal now.
Celta, facing the obligation to share half of any fee with Barcelona, want at least €7 million to sell immediately. Not a price Juve are willing to pay when they could get the player for nothing in June.
Instead, initial conversations have begun with Mingueza’s camp to line up a free transfer — a smart move that fits perfectly with the club’s more strategic winter policy.
Alternatives explored
Sporting director Giovanni Ottolini hasn’t stopped there. Another name under evaluation is Brooke Norton-Cuffy — one of his past favourites. However, Genoa immediately turned down Juve’s request for a loan with an option to buy, insisting on a permanent move only.
