Timothy Weah Set for Marseille: What Juventus Stands to Gain

Start

The transfer market axis between Juventus and Olympique Marseille is poised to deliver decisive news as Timothy Weah edges closer to joining the French side. Over recent days, negotiations have intensified, and a full agreement is nearly in place, with only the finer details remaining. IlBianconero report that the deal could be officially closed as early as the start of next week.

A Period of Change for Juventus

Juventus are undergoing significant changes, particularly on the flanks. Following the permanent signing of Francisco Conceicao, the club has turned its focus to another high-profile target for the wings: Jadon Sancho. With Sancho now surplus to requirements at Manchester United, Juventus identifies him as the ideal player to bring added quality and unpredictability to manager Igor Tudor’s 3-4-2-1 system.

A Strategic Deal: Weah to Marseille

Sancho’s arrival in Turin is, however, tied directly to a departure within the Juventus squad. In this context, Timothy Weah’s imminent exit becomes an essential piece of Juventus’ transfer strategy. Despite a previously found agreement with Nottingham Forest, Weah refused the English club’s proposal. Instead, he enthusiastically accepted Marseille’s offer, which provides him a return to Ligue 1 and, crucially, the chance to play in the upcoming Champions League.

Weah’s prior experience in France with Lille made this an appealing move for the American, who quickly agreed to the transfer. Juventus and Marseille are negotiating based on a fee in the region of €15 million. While Juventus aims for a deal involving a permanent transfer, it is possible that the move will be finalized as a loan with an obligation to buy under easily achievable conditions.

Juventus Set Sights on Sancho

Weah’s departure would not only free up a spot in the squad but also provide Juventus with financial resources to invest in Jadon Sancho. The club is eager to accelerate talks and bring the English talent to Turin immediately, viewing him as the missing piece to complete Tudor’s attacking line.
